• Breeding of Amphiprion species clownfish

This presentation focuses on which species of clownfish are best selected for breeding, what equipment is needed, and culture techniques required for the necessary planktonic food. Special emphasis is given to the physiology of the species and how to overcome typical obstacles to breeding success.

• Breeding of Lysmata species ornamental shrimp

Lysmata Wurdemmani, commonly known as Peppermint shrimp, reaches sexual maturity quickly and is an easily cultured marine ornamental. By elaborating on the culture techniques necessary to grow planktonic crustaceans, this presentation seeks to encourage hobbyists to engage in easy to accomplish culture activities. The main emphasis in this presentation is to show how a successful culture effort can be made with a minimum amount of effort.  

• Improving the possibility of hobbyist aquaculture

System design is a strong influence on the success of any culture activity. This presentation shows a variety of the systems to be considered when engaging in ornamental culture activities. During the presentation we highlight the pioneers of the marine ornamental industry, who have shared their techniques and passions and made possible the breeding of marine ornamentals. To highlight the future possibilities, we do a comparison between the apiary industry, and what the future of home based ornamental culture activities can produce.
